SUMMARY:Illuminated Fundamentals
DESCRIPTION:Illuminated Fundamentals centers on the essential elements that support a meaningful\, connected life—purpose\, autonomy\, connection\, self-acceptance\, play\, and strong support networks. These fundamentals shape how we understand ourselves\, relate to others\, and navigate the world.  \n\n\n\nThrough immersive\, visual\, and interactive experiences\, the exhibit explores ideas that are often difficult to articulate. By engaging with nature\, touching sand\, activating consciousness through time-travel experiences\, connecting with community\, and allowing memory and emotion to surface\, visitors encounter these essentials in embodied\, sensory ways.  \n\n\n\nThe work calls on nature for guidance and reflection. It asks viewers to pause\, slow down\, and recognize themselves as part of a larger whole—an essential element within a shared system. This is an invitation to be present\, to reflect\, and to engage curiosity.  \n\n\n\nWhen visiting Peg’s Foundation & Gallery\, we invite you to experience something different—to learn\, to reflect\, and to carry empathy beyond the gallery walls. You may discover a new insight\, recall a meaningful memory\, or recognize your own role in supporting others.  \n\n\n\nIlluminated Fundamentals is a reminder that introspection\, connection\, and play are not luxuries\, but necessities.  \n\n\n\nKnow thyself.  \n\n\n\nParticipating Artists: \n\n\n\n\nMeryl Engler\n\n\n\nTimothy (C-Rex) Johnson in collaboration with team: Eric (Mr. FUN) Gilliom\, Andrew (Android) Jones\, June (noosens) Parfait\, & Jonathan (Cosmic Cowboy) Yudis.\n\n\n\nMicah Kraus\n\n\n\nKeith Lemley\n\n\n\nSherry Simms\n\n\n\nThe Cable Family Collection

SUMMARY:Campus-Wide Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Peg’s invites the community to a campus-wide reception celebrating the opening of two new exhibits Friday\, May 15\, 2026\, from 5–7 PM.   \n\n\n\n25 Years of Impact traces the evolution of a vision first imagined by Peg Morgan and carried forward by those who believe in the power of giving to change lives. Through stories\, images\, and artifacts from the foundation’s history\, the exhibit highlights landmark initiatives\, partnerships\, and the people whose work has expanded access to care\, deepened cultural engagement\, and inspired hope. Visitors are invited to reflect on the enduring impact of philanthropy and to imagine what the next 25 years might hold for a community shaped by generosity and purpose.  \n\n\n\nOpening concurrently\, Eighty-Six Reasons for Asylum Admission: A Domestic Beginning\, an exhibit by Ohio porcelain artist Kimberly Chapman\, explores why women were institutionalized in asylums from the mid-nineteenth century through the 1970s. The exhibit confronts the gendered and unequal treatment of these spaces. Constructed in 1825—just decades before the rise of organized feminism—the Baldwin Buss Merino House stands at the threshold of a period when women’s autonomy was tightly controlled\, conditions that could later justify institutionalization. \n\n\n\nVisitors are encouraged to explore the galleries\, connect with artists and program partners\, and reflect on the stories and ideas presented in both exhibits. The evening will include live music\, thoughtful remarks\, and light refreshments.  \n\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available on city streets and lots throughout the walkable downtown neighborhood of Hudson\, Ohio.

DESCRIPTION:Reception: Friday\, May 15\, 2026\, 5–7 PM Gallery Hours:  Friday & Saturday 11 – 4 pm (May 16 – September 5 only) \n\n\n\nEighty-Six Reasons for Asylum Admission: A Domestic Beginning\, an exhibit by Ohio porcelain artist Kimberly Chapman\, explores why women were institutionalized in asylums from the mid-nineteenth century through the 1970s. The exhibit confronts the gendered and unequal treatment of these spaces. Her porcelain-based practice focuses on themes of female endurance and institutional violence\, frequently drawing from historical research to examine systems that have silenced and subjugated women. She received her BFA in Ceramics from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2017\, following a career in corporate and collegiate marketing. She also holds a MA and BA in Communication from Cleveland State University. Since graduating\, Chapman has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions across the US\, including: the National Museum of Psychology\, Akron\, OH; Erie Museum of Art\, Erie\, PA; the Baber Room Gallery\, Central Michigan University\, Mount Pleasant\, MI; and the Anderson Gallery\, University at Buffalo\, Buffalo\, NY. She is a trustee at the Ohio Arts Group\, an affiliate of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
