SUMMARY:Illuminated Fundamentals
DESCRIPTION:OPENING RECEPTION: THURSDAY\, FEBRUARY 12 | 5 – 7PM\n\n\n\nIlluminated Fundamentals centers on the essential elements that support a meaningful\, connected life—purpose\, autonomy\, connection\, self-acceptance\, play\, and strong support networks. These fundamentals shape how we understand ourselves\, relate to others\, and navigate the world.  \n\n\n\nThrough immersive\, visual\, and interactive experiences\, the exhibit explores ideas that are often difficult to articulate. By engaging with nature\, touching sand\, activating consciousness through time-travel experiences\, connecting with community\, and allowing memory and emotion to surface\, visitors encounter these essentials in embodied\, sensory ways.  \n\n\n\nThe work calls on nature for guidance and reflection. It asks viewers to pause\, slow down\, and recognize themselves as part of a larger whole—an essential element within a shared system. This is an invitation to be present\, to reflect\, and to engage curiosity.  \n\n\n\nWhen visiting Peg’s Foundation & Gallery\, we invite you to experience something different—to learn\, to reflect\, and to carry empathy beyond the gallery walls. You may discover a new insight\, recall a meaningful memory\, or recognize your own role in supporting others.  \n\n\n\nIlluminated Fundamentals is a reminder that introspection\, connection\, and play are not luxuries\, but necessities.  \n\n\n\nKnow thyself.  \n\n\n\nParticipating Artists: \n\n\n\n\nMeryl Engler\n\n\n\nTimothy (C-Rex) Johnson in collaboration with team: Eric (Mr. FUN) Gilliom\, Andrew (Android) Jones\, June (noosens) Parfait\, & Jonathan (Cosmic Cowboy) Yudis.\n\n\n\nMicah Kraus\n\n\n\nKeith Lemley\n\n\n\nSherry Simms\n\n\n\nThe Cable Family Collection

SUMMARY:Texture & Repetition: Stencils are OK
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Micah Kraus for a hands-on workshop exploring texture\, repetition\, and layering through stencil-based mark making. \n\n\n\nApproaching creativity through the lens of a printmaker\, Kraus’s practice centers on process\, iteration\, and experimentation—often combining analog and digital tools while allowing words\, phrases\, and visual elements to evolve through repetition and inversion. \n\n\n\nDuring this session\, Kraus will combine a process demonstration with a conversation about the artwork currently on view at Peg’s Gallery. Participants will experiment with stencils created by the artist using a variety of mark-making techniques\, exploring the possibilities of texture\, repetition\, and layered imagery. \n\n\n\nAs the workshop unfolds\, Kraus will share insights into his creative process and discuss the work on view\, inviting questions and conversation throughout. This playful and exploratory experience highlights the importance of observation and reaction as ideas develop\, offering participants a chance to see how artistic process and visual expression connect. \n\n\n\nAll events are free and open to the public. \n\n\n\nNo registration necessary.

SUMMARY:April Showers: Printing Peonies with Meryl Engler
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate spring with a hands-on introduction to woodcut printmaking.\n\n\n\nUsing pre-carved floral woodblocks\, participants will learn the basics of inking and hand-printing without a press\, then create their own vibrant flower prints to take home. Led by artist Meryl Engler\, the workshop includes a brief overview of the carving process and guidance throughout printing. Participants will work with water-based inks and leave with a small collection of their own handmade prints. \n\n\n\nMeryl Engler is a printmaker known for her colorful woodcut prints\, often using pattern and repetition. She is inspired by hidden landscapes in our environment and the relationships we form to them and to each other. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is currently on view at Peg’s Gallery in Illuminated Fundamentals. \n\n\n\nAll events are free and open to the public. No registration necessary.
